Everything you need to know about Kali Teeri.

  • 6 players sit around the table.
  • A standard 52-card deck is used, with the 2s removed (48 cards total).
  • Each player receives 8 cards.
  • Teams of 3 are formed dynamically each round through bidding.
  • The goal is to win trick points that meet or exceed your bid.

Only certain cards carry points. The total for any round is 250 points.

The 3♠ is called Kali Teeri — it is the most dangerous card on the table.

  • Bidding starts at 130. Each raise must be at least 10 more.
  • Go clockwise. You can raise or pass. Once you pass, you cannot re-enter.
  • The first player to bid must open — passing is not allowed at the very start.
  • The last player left wins the bid. Your team must reach that score to win the round.
  • The winning bidder chooses a trump suit. Trump beats all other suits.
  • They also call 2 partner cards — e.g., A♥ and K♦.
  • The holders of those cards become the bidder's secret partners.
  • Partners reveal themselves when they play the called card.
  • Teams: Bidding team (bidder + 2 partners) vs Defending team (remaining 3).
  • 8 tricks are played per round.
  • You must follow the lead suit if you have any cards of that suit.
  • If you can't follow suit, play any card — including trump.
  • Highest trump wins; otherwise highest card of the lead suit wins.
  • The trick winner leads the next trick.
  • Bidding team meets/exceeds bid → each member earns +bid points.
  • Falls short → each member loses −bid points.
  • Defending team always scores 0.
  • Full House: Capture all 250 card points → everyone on the bidding team earns 250 pts.
  • Watch which cards are played — you can deduce partners early.
  • Reveal your partner card strategically. Too early tips off defenders.
  • Lead trump early to exhaust opponents' trumps before playing your high non-trump cards.
  • The 3♠ is powerful — but if spades are trump, it has the lowest trump rank.
  • High bids are risky but rewarding. Don't overbid unless your hand is strong.
